The Fall of Capitalism and the Rise of Socialism
A New Dawn (2025)
Capitalism has created problems that only socialism can solve; the main issue being inequality. To live in a capitalistic regime is to compete, to hoard, to become out of touch with humanity. Capitalism is the disease, and socialism is the antidote.
Capitalism eliminates everyone who tries to create an alternative economic system, then claims to be the only system that works. The myth of equal opportunity is what insulates the wealthy and keeps them in positions of power. When in fact the structural problems, such as the generational wealth gap, environmental racism, and lack of community investment, are our reality.
Socialism is the exact opposite of capitalism; a political and economic ideology that abolishes private ownership of production, distribution, and exchange while simultaneously liberating the working class from exploitation by capital. With an emphasis on equal access, socialism is the idea that all people should be able to jointly use, share, and benefit from both natural resources and the goods and services that are collectively produced.
The goals of capitalism are not related to improving the lives of consumers, but rather to rewarding private owners with the most competitive offerings. Capitalism needs poverty so it can pretend wealth is a reward. Training the human brain for scarcity: to defend, hoard, and compete. Individualism is a byproduct of this broken system, encouraging us to fight each other instead of collectively fighting the elites who impose this system upon us. They would rather incite a civil war than allow for a collective revolution.
The structure shapes your perception; change the conditions in which we live, and behavior changes. To understand how we have arrived at this stage of capitalism, we need to understand the concept of monopoly. Due to the lack of regulation of monopolies, consumers have been subjected to excessive prices, subpar products, and limited choices, allowing monopolies to maximize their profits. A large portion of consumer goods is owned by the same handful of corporations, including Alphabet Inc. (Google), Microsoft, Apple, Amazon, and Meta.
Those with the most wealth and influence have significantly more power over the economy and society than those without. Capitalism encourages owners to prioritize profit over providing essential goods and services, such as healthcare, housing, and medicine. Socialism is the belief that every human being deserves to live with their necessities met. If we do not push for change now, we risk losing our humanity to the almighty dollar.
